The first of many belly blogs. We’d have started earlier, but there wasn’t much to document. It really just looked like pudge, and still sort of does for that matter. The belly is becoming fuller and firmer to the touch everyday. No kicks or anything exciting yet. I think I could have been one of those ” I didn’t know I was pregnant…until I found a baby in my toilet ladies…..except that I think the growing belly over the next 27 weeks will most likely be dead giveaway, just a guess.

pretty peonies I bought this week as a second trimester gift to myself. You should probably go pick some up too. Tim thinks they smell like his inhaler but whatevs.

I hope I don’t need to school you on how to BBQ a chicken breast, but if you want the Salad recipe, as I mentioned in a previous post, just go here.

Blueberry Crisp

Ingredients for filling

  • 4-6 cups blueberries (I only used about 4 because that’s all I had and it turned out wonderful).
  • 1/4 cup sugar (recipe was for a half but since I had less blueberries…you get the idea.)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt

Ingredients for crumble

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats + 1/4 cup chopped nuts…or 1/2 cup rolled oats…or 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Method

Preheat oven to 375°. Make the filling: Mix blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and salt in a bowl. Transfer to an 8-inch square baking dish.

Make the topping: Stir together flour, oats, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and sugar in a mixer until pale and fluffy. Stir dry ingredients into butter. Using your hands, squeeze topping pieces together into clumps.

Sprinkle topping evenly over filling. Bake until bubbling in center and brown on top, about 1 hour. Transfer to a wire rack, and let cool for 30 minutes before serving.

update: I’m loving digging in the flower bed when no one is watching, chasing after my new red rubber ball, and howling at the new neighbors. Good thing I’m so cute. Mom says puppy school is just around the corner!

It’s the truth. It’s how I graduated college, Met a guy who likes me because I remind him of his grandma, got married, moved a gazillion times, and now…how I’m going to have a baby. A list a day keeps the insane thoughts away. I’ve tried TeuxDeux but the online concept is just too much for me. I forget to check it. I prefer a nice lined piece of paper, where I can practice my handwriting. The same goes for grocery lists, iphone app? yeah there’s an app for that but no thanks.

hopefully your weekend list is filled with things like meeting a guy named ted and downing pink panty droppers.
